1. Manaus
Stay
About the destination: Manaus is the capital of the state of Amazonas in north-western Brazil. It is situated in the heart of the Amazon rainforest on the north bank of the Rio Negro, just 10 kilometres upstream from the point where Rio Negro meets the Solimoes and forms the Amazon River. Manaus is the gateway to the Amazon. The enormous richness and diversity that can be found within nature in the Amazonas is amazing, and Manaus is where most Amazon tour operators are based. The city has plenty of sight to see and a vast array of grand-looking buildings. The floating dock is worth a visit, as well as the market. The Opera house is impressive, The Amazon Theatre, the National Institute for research in the Amazon and the Ponta Negra are worth a visit and the Museu do Indio has an excellent ethnographic collection. Good handicrafts from indigenous and traditional communities can be found in the Galeria Amazônica.Manaus is pleasant and friendly and it is a busy hub but feels laid-back. Manaus has char and it is impossible to dislike.

About the destination: Brasilia, the young capital city of Brazil, was created to promote the occupancy of Brazilian Highlands. In 1956, the then president Juscelino Kubitschek started building the capital and in 21st April of 1960 Brasilia was inaugurated. Brasilia was designed by Lúcio Costa and Oscar Niemeyer, two of the most respected Brazilian architects. Since 1987, Brasilia is listed in UNESCO's Mankind's World Heritage Site. It's the largest urban area covered by this list.Brasilia has the shape of an airplane, the South and North Wings are the residential areas and the cockpit is where the Government buildings are located. On the Square of the Three Powers, you will find the Congresso Nacional, the city’s most famous building complex and Oscar Niemeyer’s personal masterpiece. Around the square you will also find the Palacio do Planalto, the City Museum, the Supremo Tribunal Federal, the Nation’s Pantheon and the Lucio Costa Hall. The Department of Justice and the Itamaraty Palace are located nearby and are also part of the Terrace of Ministries. The Palacio Da Alvorada was one of the first structures to be built in the city and is located on an artificial lake. Brasilia’s Cathedral is not your typical cathedral, but nonetheless, worth a visit. Brasilia is an excellent destination for art and architecture lovers, it is in fact an ode to Brazilian modernity.

About the destination: Florianopolis is located in the south of Brazil and it's the capital of the state of Santa Catarina. Half of the city is on the mainland of Brazil while the other half is on the Santa Catarina Island. The island is well known for its beautiful beaches, there are over 50. Most people who visit Florianopolis head straight for its fabulous beaches. But Florianopolis' city centre is a great place to explore, to taste the tasty local food, to do some shopping or simply to relax. It has some nice sites that should not be missed. The Mercado Municipal is a fine example of late colonial architecture and is the perfect place to sample the town’s lively atmosphere. Praça XV de Novembro is the city’s heart and is where the Catedral Metropolitana, one of the most beautiful buildings in the city, is located. In Praça XV de Novembro we find the Velha Figueira, a hundred-year old tree considered the symbol of the city. Another important landmark of the city is Hercílio Luz Bridge that links the island to the mainland. Florianopolis is the place to go to enjoy some of Brazil's most beautiful beaches. Moreover, visitors will enjoy beautiful scenery, interesting culture and friendly people. For all of these reasons, Florianopolis has become one of the main tourist destination in Brazil.
